1. Check the anti-counterfeit code
Most major brands print a scratch-off or QR security code on the box. Scratch the panel, then enter the code on the manufacturer’s official website or scan the QR code. A genuine code is confirmed once; if it says the code has already been checked many times, or the website looks unofficial, treat the product as suspect.
2. Inspect the packaging
- Print quality: blurry logos, faded colours or crooked labels are warning signs.
- Spelling: misspelled flavour names or brand names are a classic giveaway.
- Seals: the box should be sealed in cellophane or with a tamper sticker.
- Health warnings and batch numbers: genuine products sold in the EU carry the required warnings and a batch code.
3. Look at the device itself
Compare the device with photos on the brand’s official site. Check the position of the charging port, the screen or LED layout, the mouthpiece shape and the finish. Fakes often have loose parts, uneven seams or a screen that shows the wrong information.
4. Test the first few puffs
A genuine device should produce smooth vapour with a clear flavour from the first puff. A burnt, chemical or very weak taste, leaking e-liquid or a device that gets hot quickly are all signs of a poor-quality or counterfeit product – stop using it.
5. Be careful with prices that are far too low
